Talented musician and singer with a large repertoire.
Mark began to learn about music at the age of seven and intends to continue to try to ‘suss it out’ till his final breath! He became involved in a number of bands and ‘theatricals’ whilst at secondary school. On leaving, he became ‘part-time care-taker’ at Weymouth’s Pavilion Theatre Complex, learning how to clean: ash- trays, cloak- rooms, dance- floors and drinking- glasses. He also performed nightly battle with the carbon- rods of the theatre’s spotlights.
Next, he spent a year as an ‘entertainer’ in professional theatre and cabaret in England, Italy, U. S. A., and the Caribbean. Then- and whilst at University, he played in bands throughout London and the South- East. He also understudied three parts in the Stage musical ‘Let the Good Stones Roll’ at The Ambassador’s theatre in the ‘West- End’.
T.V. ‘extra and walk-on’ jobs followed in several ‘Light Entertainment’ programmes and ‘series’ popular at the time. There were also many opportunities for him to meet, play music and record with several of the ‘great and the good’ of the late nineteen-seventies/ early eighties. With Steve Hellaby, he enjoyed a song-publishing and recording contract with both EMI and Magic Records. Steve and Mark composed and recorded a wide range of music- including ‘jingles’ for Radio 1- and ‘Commercials’.
As the band Small Change, with other musicians, they completed the CD ‘Found in Back Lane’ over, what eventually turned out to be, a twenty- year period!
Mark continues to enjoy working on a variety of new projects.
If you like what you've heard and would like to purchase a CD of the music, this is the place to do it!
